I recently did a story on how platforms in the Miss UCA pageant help bring awareness to causes affecting many women, as well as men, across the state. Pageants are the target audience for most of these causes, because of the young women and family based audiences.
The platform that I covered was that of contestant Caitlyn Cook, “Staying Alive: Be Red Cross Ready.” Her hope is to create awareness for the need to develop plans, before disaster strikes in your area. As we head in to inclement weather season, this is crucial.
There were fifteen contestants in the Friday night event and Caitlyn ended up taking home the crown. What this means? Caitlyn will now have the chance to compete, later this year, in the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant; and once again, bring awareness to her platform to an even larger target audience. We wish her the best of luck!
